You're never too old, too wacky, or too wild to pick up a book and read to a child. What better way to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday than reading to a child? Come to the library for Dr. Seuss stories and crafts. All ages welcome.




Spring Break Series

These programs are funded with money from the vote of Minnesota residents on November 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve our state's art and cultural heritage.



Build and Blow Your Own Horn

Monday, March 15

The St. Anthony Brass Quintet will show you how to build a horn and how instruments produce sound. Limited to 25 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.



The Rose Ensemble: Hawaii Revealed

Tuesday, March 16

Discover Hawaii's heritage revealed through its beautiful music. You'll also learn the hula!



Karibuni Ensemble

Thursday, March 18
2 p.m.
RCL - Shoreview

Come hear music from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, the Republic of Congo and South Africa. Musicians sing songs in six languages with electric guitar and percussion accompaniment.




ArtScraps: Pots for Plants

Create your own flower pot out of reused meter covers and many other recycled materials from ArtStart's ArtScraps!



Katha Dance Theatre: Dancing Storytellers of India

This unique presentation will combine North Indian storytelling and percussive Kathak dance, the folk dance of India.






Hip Hop Dance Styles

Come spend an afternoon with local artist Scott Rolfs and learn the basics of creating cartoon fairies and princesses! For children 8 to 12 years old. Class size is limited, call the hosting branch to register.



El Día De Los Niños

El Día de los Niños (the day of the child) is celebrated each year on April 30. This annual event emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Come and join us on the eve of El Día for a rich cultural experience!



Musica, Lengua y Cultura

Latin American folk music blends indigenous, European and African elements and traditions. Hear the legend of the armadillo-shelled charango, simulate the sounds of the rainforest, sing a Cuban lullaby and more.


Flamenco Espana!

Thursday, April 29

Flamenco reflects the rich cultural influences of the native Andalusians, Gypsy, Islamic and Sephardic cultures in Spain. Music is accompanied by dancers' rhythmic footwork and hand clapping.

Children between the ages of five and eight who would like to work on their reading skills are invited to participate in PAWS to READ.
